Computational Geometry: Lecture notes

• Libraries that are helpful for geometric coding. We will use some of this material in this course. (All are usable in C++)
  • CGAL: A C++ library that you will become familiar with in this course.
  • GMP: A Multiprecision library. [ Manual ]
  • LEDA . (Here is an online tutorial)
  (I have an older version of this library that used to be free. Till our licensed copy arrives, we will use this library to learn. If you do not have it, come to my office and collect a copy from me.).
  • CORE: You will come to know the necessity of working with "exactness".
  • Doxygen: A library we will use for documentation of the projects. [ Tutorial ]
• Here are some of my classes that you can use when implementing programming assignments for the course. (When I bar you from using the above libraries). We will refine these classes as the course progresses.
  • defs.hpp: Some simple definitions
  • dpoint.hpp: A d-dimensional point class for fixed dimensional points. Needs defs.hpp.
  • timer.hpp: A Timer class that you will use for measuring timings.
  • assert.hpp: An assert class that helps you debug your code.
  • example.cpp: Example program using some of the classes. Needs defs.hpp, assert.hpp, timer.hpp and dpoint.hpp.
  • dbox.hpp: A d-dimensional box class for fixed dimensional boxes. Needs dpoint.hpp.
  • assignment1.cpp: Assignment 1 tester for orientations.
  • ch_2.hpp: Assignment 2 will be mostly implemented in this file.
  • dgenerator.hpp: Generate random d-dimensional points
  • print_sequence.hpp: Prints the contents of any sequence, should be useful for printing a vector of points or points stored in a container. See example usage in assignment_2.cpp.
  • predicates.c: Jonathan's orientation code
  • Makefile: Small makefile for assignment 2.
  • assignment2.cpp: Assignment 2 that uses ch_2.hpp to compute convex hulls. First download this file and read the heading.
